Stephen has always had skills that he’s wanted to try, but never had anything that held him accountable to actually get out there and do it. One of his takeaways from College Pro was the weekly Goal Setting & Review, which gave him the idea of setting a weekly goal to learn something new, and make a website to hold him accountable, and document the process (check out his website for the videos!) Whether it was opening a banana from the bottom up while giving a College Pro speech, doing a barrel roll in an airplane, or learning how to hot wire a car, Stephen had an incredible 52 weeks. “I’ve gotten so much out of 52skillz, but I think a really interesting thing that I picked up on was the power of storytelling. I learned that everything is about telling a story, so each of my videos became part of my story.” Stephen also talks about what he calls “Action vs. Passion”. While College Pro offered him a lot of action and quick learning, he wasn’t necessarily passionate about painting. Going out on his own taught him the value of finding a balance between the two. He talks about that in his new Ted Talk (you HAVE to check it out), and he regularly spoke about it on his weekly CBC talkshow.
“I’D BEEN INTERESTED IN ENTREPRENEURSHIP FOR A LONG TIME, BUT NEVER HAD THE GUTS TO DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT UNTIL COLLEGE PRO”
“Routine is the enemy.”
