CHRISTINE COLLIER

Willamette Valley Vineyards | Salem, OR

College Pro History

Rookie Year: 2006 | Oregon
Education: Oregon State University

Business These Days

She started working for Willamette Valley Vineyards in 2009 as a social marketing coordinator. This began her love of the growing Oregon wine industry. She then became a wine specialist for Harry and David, before moving on to Oregon Wine Ambassadors. Christine is the founder of Oregon Wine Press, and has continued her entrepreneurial spirit by starting her own wine brand, God King Slave Wines, after the old quote “Create like a God, Command like a King, Work like a slave”. Three years of working on the brand later, she got a call from the founder of Willamette Valley Vineyard, and was asked to come back to work under him as part of his succession plan, and she remains there today.

“NOW THAT I’M RUNNING A MUCH LARGER ORGANIZATION, I REALIZE COLLEGE PRO WAS A GREAT CRASH COURSE, BUT IT HAS TO BE FOR THE RIGHT PERSON.”

College Pro Skills

One of Christine’s major skill takeaways was salesmanship – not being afraid to ask for the job. First year franchisees rarely have experience in the home painting industry, but the ability to develop the skills to do an estimate, present it, make the sale and do the follow-up, were crucial to Christine. However, the thing she says is the most valuable part of a College Pro summer is leadership. She had three crews, and had to learn what excited them, what incentivized them and how to supported them. Leadership remains extremely important in her role today.
